Richard Lafayette, MD, FACP, is a professor of medicine (Nephrology) at the Stanford University Medical Center in Stanford, CA. He is also the founder and director of the Stanford Glomerular Disease Center and its fellowship training program. 

Dr Lafayette has a longstanding interest in glomerular disease, with a focus on immunoglobulin A nephropathy. This interest has led to many evaluations and some elucidation of the pathogenesis of immunoglobulin A nephritis, as well as leadership in numerous clinical trials. 

He has more than 30 years of clinical experience and more than 150 publications, including more than 100 peer-reviewed papers. Dr Lafayette remains passionate in efforts to discover safer and more effective treatments for patients.
