Gina D’Amato, MD, is well respected and internationally known in sarcoma. She recently joined Emory University as Director of the Sarcoma Medical Oncology Program at Emory Winship Cancer Institute based at Emory Crawford Long Hospital. Dr D’Amato comes to Winship from H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center located in Tampa, FL, where she was an assistant professor for the Sarcoma Program in the Department of Interdisciplinary Oncology, College of Medicine, at the University of South Florida. In addition to overseeing and managing Winship’s Sarcoma Program, Dr D’Amato sees sarcoma patients at Emory Crawford Long Hospital. Her interests also include sarcoma research and clinical trials.

Dr D’Amato speaks around the country on emerging treatment for sarcoma. Her research interests include basic science research in PI3K/Akt/mTOR inhibition of sarcomas and early-phase clinical trials involving novel anticancer agents for sarcomas. She received the Leiomyosarcoma Direct Research Foundation Excellence in Care Award and was the number one fundraiser for Leukemia Lymphoma Society Team in Training in summer 2012. She also sits on the board of directors of the Sarcoma Alliance.
