Alexander B. Olawaiye, MD, FRCOG, FACOG, FACS, is a professor and the vice chair for diversity, equity and inclusion, Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Sciences, University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, Pittsburgh, PA. He is also director of gynecologic cancer research at the UPMC Magee-Womens Hospital and director of minimal access gynecologic oncology surgery at his institution. 

Dr Olawaiye is a medical graduate of the University of Ibadan, Nigeria. He underwent post-graduate training in obstetrics and gynecology and became a member (now a fellow) of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists, London, United Kingdom. He then trained in obstetrics and gynecology at The State University of New York at Buffalo. He completed his fellowship training in gynecologic oncology at Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School, Boston, MA. 

He specializes in endometrial, ovarian, cervical, vulvar, and vaginal cancers and gynecologic malignancies. His research interests lie on translational and clinical research for endometrial, ovarian, cervical, and vulvar cancers, as well as chemotherapeutic agents and their complications. Dr Olawaiye is the GOG Foundation principal investigator for the University of Pittsburgh Cancer Institute and a co–principal investigator for the joint Roswell Park Cancer Institute–University of Pittsburgh Cancer Institute Ovarian Cancer SPORE program.

Dr Olawaiye is a member of the executive council and chair of the Female Reproductive Panel of the American Joint Committee on Cancer. He is also an associate director of the GOG Foundation.
